Our Programs

During the school year, SPEAR provides safe place for kids after school two days a week, with homework help, a meal, arts and crafts, and healthy play. We offer a small clothing bank, access to the food bank, support for the families with sundry items like light bulbs, laundry and dishwashing detergents, bath soap, shampoo and conditioner, personal hygiene items like razors and feminine needs, paper goods like toilet paper, paper towels and napkins – items that food stamps will not buy. We have served family meals to the neighborhood for major holidays.

During the summer, we offer care three days a week with 2 meals a day, fun summer activities including water play items like Slip-n-Slide, water guns and water balloons and field trips to Riverfront Park and Liberty Park. Each summer, SPEAR sends between 12 and 15 of kids to enjoy a week at Camp Lutherhaven on Coeur d’Alene Lake. They have a faith-building experience while enjoying arts and crafts, campfires, music and lots of laughs. The cost for a week at Lutherhaven runs around $300 per child, fully funded by SPEAR.
